Post.Op

Today was a great day for miss Berlyn! She had such a good night and was doing so well that they changed her pain medication from morphine to Tylenol! The switch was also made because she woke up A LOT sooner than they thought she would!! Because of this, they wanted to remove her breathing tube because she was already breathing on her own. After they extubated her they noticed the tip of the tube was clogged with mucus so she has been breathing on her own for a while. Luckily they took it out when they did and she didn't have any problems with it! She has been very stable and is improving that they are looking to wean her settings on her oxygen support. They will begin to feed her clear liquids tomorrow and will continue with breast milk on Friday. They will slowly increase the amount to get it back to the same amount as pre-op and they will begin to fortify her milk to help her gain weight! That is the next biggest hurdle to get over. She is so skinny that she gets bad sores from her prominent bones :( it's sad to see but she is tough and a fighter and was gaining weight before so now she just needs to keep it up!! They found the smallest binky they had for her and she loves it. We are hoping this will help her swallow more. We are so proud of her and love her so much!
The purple binky is premie and the one she has is called a micro premie!
